International CSC Clinician Scott Brown visits Holland
For the second time this year, renowned percussion clinician Scott Brown will visit The Netherlands to conduct workshops. Last year Scott judged the World Music Contest in Kerkrade. He will be in The Netherlands from 19th June till 27th June to work with Beatrix drum & bugle corps from Hilversum for which he arranged all the percussion scores in a co-production with Paul Doop (front ensemble). But also he will conduct several workshops with other bands and ensembles like the Damiate Band from Haarlem on Monday 21st August.
Scott is currently the Assistant Band Director at Dickerson Middle School in Marietta, GA and serves on the instructional staff and as co-arranger for the percussion section of the 1998 & 2002 Bands of America Grand National Champion Lassiter High School Band. In addition, Mr. Brown is co-founder of Percussion Workshop, a percussion consulting company, and co-founder and director of the North Georgia Middle School Percussion Camp. Mr. Brown is co-author of “Field Level – The Ultimate Band Director’s Guide to fielding the Ultimate Marching Percussion Section” published by Row-Loff Productions and has had articles published in Percussive Notes Magazine, School Band & Orchestra Magazine, and Halftime Magazine. Scott has presented clinics for The Midwest Clinic, the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, the Georgia Music Educator’s Association Conference, the Texas Bandmasters Association, and marching and concert percussion clinics in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.
As an adjudicator, Mr. Brown has judged competitions throughout the United States and Europe for DCA, USSBA, CIPA, CWEA, WMC and WAMSB including the 2007 DCA World Championship Semi-finals in Rochester, NY, the 2008 WAMSB European Open Championships in Roselare, Belgium and the month-long World Music Contest in Kerkrade, the Netherlands in 2009. Scott Brown holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Western Carolina University where he was a recipient of the prestigious North Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship. He was a three-year member of the Carolina Crown Drum & Bugle Corps where he was recognized “Percussionist of the Year” in 1997 and has worked with concert and marching percussion ensembles throughout the southeast including the Spirit of Atlanta Drum & Bugle Corps and the Kennesaw Mountain High School Band.
Mr. Brown is a member of the Vic Firth Education Team, CSC Clinician and is an educational artist for Evans Drumheads, Mapex Drums, Majestic Concert Percussion, ROSS Mallet Percussion, HQ Drumpads, Row-loff Productions, and Sabian Cymbals.
